Getting kids to check often invariably lead to better blood glucose control. But it's not fun.
Bayer has developed a new blood glucose monitoring system for kids that works with the Nintendo DS gaming systems to help make it a little more entertaining. It's based on Bayer's proven CONTOUR system. The program aims to encourages consistent blood glucose testing by awarding reward points that users can use to "buy" in-game items (think virtual tools and swag) and unlock new game levels.
It isn't available in the US or Canada yet, but you can check out the Bayer UK website which has an interactive demo of Didget here: http://www.bayerdidget.co.uk/about-didget/Product-Demo
